Catterall is special guest at Ribble Valley ABC show

British and WBO Inter-Continental Super Lightweight champion Jack Catterall was the guest as Ribble Valley Amateur Boxing Club hosted its first ever show.

The 24-year-old, who has teamed up with the likes of Carl Frampton, Martin Murray and Rocky Fielding, working under Jamie Moore at the VIP Gym in Astley, dished out the silverware in Clitheroe.

Two-time North West champion Toro Croft was one of the pugilists to pick up a trophy when beating W. Williams (Jennings ABC) via a unanimous decision.

Drew Coulston won his contest against Ryan Taylor (Leigh ABC), stopping his opponent in the second round while Milo Ronchetti forced a first round stoppage against Cole J Gaynor from Bury ABC.

Best Club Boxer of the Night Award went to Toro Croft Senior. Other fighters to represent Ribble Valley ABC on the bill were Reuben Gaskill, Hamza Shehzad, George Leach, Bethany Wild, Abdullah Shehzad, Callum Worts and Dan Moon.

Coach Mohammed Safraz said: “All the boxers that took part did exceptionally well.

“For some of them it was their first time competing, but when they stepped into the ring they performed really well.

“The support that the local crowd gave really motivated them and definitely contributed to their overall experience of competing for the first time.

“All thanks to the people who came to cheer their local boxers on.”

Coach Mohammed Ihsan said: “All the boxers trained really hard to prepare for this show and the way they performed on the night was just great. The months leading up to the show were really tough for the boxers as they were put through their paces and worked extremely hard to get ready for their contests.

“Well done to all of them for their hard work.”

And coach Mohammed Sirtaj added: “This show was made possible by the local businesses that supported us and sponsored the show.
