Burnley boxer Bennett forced to pull fight

Wayne Bennett cannot wait to get his career back on track, after a spell out of the ring due to a recurring nose injury.

But he will have to wait a while longer after suffering another nose break while sparring this week.

The Burnley boxer has been sparring with his usual partners Liam Walsh and Tyrone Nurse, and had had few problems being caused by the injury as he trained for his ring return in Halifax on May 21st.

He was looking to put on another top performance and to give his loyal travelling fans the excitement he usually brings.

No opponent had been confirmed, but veteran midlander Jason Nesbitt was a possible candidate for the slot.

Nesbitt was coming off a draw against one of Manchester’s hottest prospects, Stephen Jennings, and a close decision loss to English title challenger Amir Unsworth.

Nesbitt, noted for his durability, strength and decent punching power is no pushover, and would have proved a stern test for Wayne in his fourth professional fight.
