Boxer Shayne Singleton: ‘I want to show the world what I can do’

The 24-year-old is already gunning for his fourth title - the prestigious Lonsdale Belt currently owned by Frankie Gavin who cleaned up domestically to win the belt outright with three defences.

But the unbeaten Birmingham boxer is expected to vacate his British crown and progress to the European and World stage, providing the void for a potential battle between Singleton and English welterweight champion Bradley Skeete.

Prior to the successful defence of his WBA Intercontinental title against tough Italian Giuseppe Loriga at the Copper Box Arena last weekend, the 26-year-old Londoner had already vociferated an ambition of winning the most treasured belt in world boxing.

And it’s a dream that’s paralleled by Singleton: “Tommy Coyle fought for two big titles after winning this WBC belt at lightweight and he’s fighting on Eddie Hearn’s shows and signed with him and that’s what I want. I want that exposure and be able to fight on big shows on TV. I want the big stage and the big fights now.

“I want the British title. I want to show the rest of the world what I can do. I’ve got a feeling that chance will come pretty soon. I’ll fight anybody in Britain for it because I want to mix it with the best. I feel that I’m at that level now and I can only prove that by fighting those sort of boys.”
