All-time great Roy Jones Jnr set to grace Gisburn!

FIGHT fans have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on Sunday.

Roy Jones Jr - one of the best pound-for-pound boxers of all time - will make a public appearance at the Maree Leisure gym at Stirk House, Gisburn between 3-5 p.m.

The 41-year-old, whose last fight came in April with a rematch against Bernard Hopkins, won a string of belts at Middleweight, Super middleweight, Light heavyweight and Heavyweight, becoming the only boxer in history to start his career as a junior middleweight and go on to win a heavyweight title.

Named Fighter of the 90s by the Boxing Writers Association of America, he also held a record seven belts at the same time as the undisputed world Light heavyweight champion.

You can have your photograph taken with Florida-born Jones for £25, as he joins a glittering list of boxing’s finest to grace Kevin Maree’s gym.

Over the last couple of years, Maree has attracted the likes of Barry McGuigan, Michael Gomez, Joe Calzaghe, Frank Bruno and Steve Collins, with Jones surely the pick of the lot.

Local promoter and trainer Maree is currently training Kenny Anderson, who won a gold medal in the Light heavyweight division at the last Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006, as he prepares to fight for the British Super middleweight title.
