HAMELDON Community College held their own Olympic Games earlier this month.
Since 2008, the school’s sports day has been called Olympic Day, and this year’s event - on the eve of the real thing - was a joyous occasion where the sun shined with the Olympic spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.
Teams were named after the Olympic and Paralympic ideals - courage, determination, excellence, friendship, inspiration and respect - and pupils took part in football, netball, rounders and athletics competitions.
There were some outstanding performances in all activities from members of the different teams, in particular Jade Brookes, Laura Burrows and Amber Anders, but the winning team at the end of the day was Inspiration.
The event was officiated by Year 10 Olympic Day leaders.
