Three Burnley AC athletes excelled at the recent Lancashire County Athletics Championship held at Blackpool.
Leon Stubbs, competing in his first year as an Under 17, got through to the final of the 400m. The competition was extremely strong this year, and Leon well to finish fifth, smashing his personal best by over a second with a time of 53.6s. The result also meant he achieved a grade 4 English Athletics standard.
Imogen Mansfield, participating in her first ever championship as an Under 13, managed three top eight finishes in her events.
In the javelin Imogen finished eighth throwing a personal best of 15.84m, which is also a grade 4 English Athletics standard.
In the 100m she ran a personal best of 14.7s in her heat and had to have a run off to get into the final. She managed eighth position in the final, where she finished eighth.

Special recognition needs to also be given to Mike Linaker, Jayne Linaker and Helen Goodwill, the three officials that Burnley AC sent to the Championship because without them and all the other volunteers from around the county these events would not be possible.
Burnley AC are hosting an Under 11s open meeting at their track on Sunday, June 14th.
This is open to youngsters between the ages of seven and 10 as of August 31st 2015.
