Burnley’s schools triumphed at this year’s SPAR Lancashire Summer School Games, at Stanley Park, Blackpool, bringing home six medals.
The town scored the highest tally of medals, with the success down to two golds, the first being in the panathlon for Ridgewood school, which also took silver in the inclusive orienteering, and the second in the SEN cricket for Shuttleworth College.
There were silver medals for Wellfield in the quad kids, and St Augustine’s in the super 8s, while Blessed Trinity brought home bronze in the handball.
Richard Varey, Chair of the Lancashire School Games organising committee and Burnley’s Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College Head Teacher, said: “Congratulations to all those who took home medals from the SPAR Lancashire Summer School Games, and a big well done to all those who reached the finals.
“We saw some fantastic competitions and we always enjoy a superb event whatever the weather.
“This year’s event rounds off a brilliant year of sport for Lancashire’s schools, enabling every school and child to be able to participate.”
