I’d like to express best wishes to the Clarets for the forthcoming season.
The squad has been strengthened over the summer and, while it will need more than teamwork and resilience (qualities which served the team so well last season) to keep us in the Premier League, I don’t expect there to be any let-up in these areas while the present manager is in charge.
And may I be permitted to make a small plea to the club’s directors? I take nothing for granted but, if we do score goals at Turf Moor, then could the fans please be allowed to celebrate without our ear drums being assailed by that curse of modern football – the goal jingle? We’ve had more than 10 years of “Tom Hark” and surely that is enough.
