The pair, wearing matching green beanie hats and red trousers, strutted their stuff all the way to the final in the freestyle competition where they won the under 12 world title.

Scarlett’s mum Sam, of George Lane, was bursting with pride.

She said: “When they danced in the final and then the results were read out we couldn’t believe it.

“I am so proud of her. She is such a good girl.

“There were dancers there from Canada, Germany and all over the world. She is not fazed by it at all.

“She just goes out there and dances, she does not worry about anything. She absolutely loves it.”

Scarlett trains at Sandersons Dance School in Nelson and spends around 18 hours dancing every week.

As well as street dance, she enjoys ballroom, classical, ballet, tap, contemporary and hip hop.

Sam said: “She wants to be a professional dancer when she grows up. But she doesn’t know what kind yet.”
