Attendees will have the chance to meet the team, chat with current volunteers, find out more about what’s involved and register their interest.

Ken Darwen, Towneley Hall manager, said: “Volunteers are a very important to Towneley Hall.

“Working alongside our staff, they allow the public greater access to collections and help us to organise events and exhibitions throughout the year and their support is invaluable.

“Volunteering at Towneley is a great opportunity for people who love history and art; who would like to work alongside specialist museum staff or who just want to give something back to their local community.

“It’s a chance to put existing skills to really good use or to learn new ones such as how to handle artefacts. We’ll provide all the training, support and equipment needed.

“Best of all it’s a chance to get up close to some fascinating artefacts and objects, so whatever the reason, I’d like to encourage people to come along to our drop-in sessions and join us for the busy spring-summer period.”
