Woman stole £37k from school canteen

A WOMAN is facing jail after admitting she stole £37,000 in school canteen takings.

Elizabeth Heaton, of Chatham Street, Leigh, will re-appear for sentence next month and has been further remanded on bail.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to the theft of “at least” £37,043 belonging to Wigan’s school dinner provider MetroFresh between July 1 2011 and February 27 2014.

The charge relates to school canteen takings at Rose Bridge High School, Ince.

Judge David Aubrey, QC, adjourned sentence on her until February 5.
