Woman ‘fell’ from M65 bridge

Officers are urging drivers to avoid the area while a police investigation takes place.

The westbound M65 between Nelson and Colne has been closed all morning due to what had been initially described as “a police incident”.

North West Motorway Police said on Twitter that the air ambulance had landed at the scene and there have been reports on social media of a person threatening to jump from a motorway bridge.

The eastbound carriageway was also closed for a time but was reopened shortly after 9am.
