Woman escapes M65 crash unhurt

The driver was travelling west along the motorway at Junction 8 near Shuttleworth Mead when the accident happened.

The woman’s BMW X5 lost a wheel and the vehicle swerved across two lanes and bounced off a motorway barrier at around 10am.

She was unhurt in the crash but police were forced to close two lanes of the westbound carriageway to remove debris.

The vehicle was recovered and the carriageway cleared by 11-20am.

A slip road at the Junction 8 exit was also closed at 11-50am so contractors to repair a lamppost which was damaged in the crash.

Minor traffic disruptions were caused but work was only expected to last an hour.
