Witness appeal after two attacked on night out in Burnley

Both victims had been in the Bees Knees pub in Hammerton Street at 1-30 a.m. on Friday, December 16th, when an argument took place between themselves and a group five or six other men.

The larger group left the pub and the victims stayed inside. A short time later, one of the men went outside for a cigarette where he spoke with the group of men.

During this further altercation, the man was punched in the face and fell to the ground at which point the group ran away from the pub.

The other victim, who was still inside the pub, saw what happened and ran up Hammerton Street to the junction of Hargreaves Street where he then met the group of men.

He was then punched in the head himself which also caused him to fall to the ground. The group then left the scene for a second time.

PC Phil Ellis said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have seen anything to come forward and contact police. There were still a number of people inside the pub and in the surrounding area at the time of the assault so I would urge people to think back and if they remember seeing anything to contact us.”

All the attackers are described as Asian men. One of them was around 5ft7in. tall, of stocky build and in his early 20s. He had very short black hair with a gold tooth and was wearing dark coloured jeans and a navy blue and white striped top under a black jacket.
