Wintry weather warning for Burnley and Pendle

Snow and severe gales could arrive in Burnley and Pendle in the middle of next week, some forecasters are predicting.

A huge area of low pressure is beginning to develop in the Atlantic which could bring with it strong winds, sleet and snow showers.

But with it expected to be still be a week away, forecasters are closely monitoring its path as it tracks across the Atlantic.

According to Craven Weather, the system has the potential for widespread wintry conditions but is keeping an eye on the storm dubbed as “the beast from the East”.

People in Burnley and Pendle woke to a first cold snap of the winter on Wednesday morning when temperatures plummeted overnight to a low of minus two centigrade, leaving many de-icing cars before school runs and commutes to work.
