If you fancy a seasonal walk and to raise money for a good cause then the ‘Winter Wander’ is for you.
The Rotary Club of Padiham and Pendleside Hospice have joined forces to hold the festive event where families will take a three-mile walk, marshalled by elves, through Padiham on Saturday 6th December.
The idea of the Winter Wander is to encourage community spirit and a little Christmas magic - with Santa suits provided for adults and reindeer antlers and red noses for the children - while also raising funds for Pendleside Hospice.
The walk starts at 11am with registration opening at 9.30am at Gawthorpe Hall. It’s expected that the walk will take between one and two hours to complete. Anyone can register but all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Upon completion, each child will be rewarded with a Christmas treat and there will also be a Winter Wander Eye-Spy Trail involving businesses in the town.
Vikki Haydock, Fundraiser for Pendleside Hospice, said; “We are extremely excited to launch our new Christmas event in partnership with Padiham Rotary Club and we hope to get the whole community on board.
“We’d like to thank Gawthorpe Hall for letting us use their grounds as a starting point and all of the businesses in Padiham who are supporting the event. We are encouraging all families in Burnley, Pendle and beyond to register and join us for what is sure to be a magical walk.”
Places are limited so go to www.pendleside.org.uk or call the fundraising team on 01282 440120 to register at a cost of £5 per person. You will then receive a sponsor pack and a voucher to collect your Santa suit/reindeer antlers and nose.
