Wiggins set to participate in Tour of Britain

Sir Bradley Wiggins is set to race around some his favourite training routes in the Ribble Valley and Pendle when he takes part in the Tour of Britain next month.

The winner of the Tour of Britain in 2013 will take his place as part of Team Wiggins.

The race reaches the Ribble Valley and Pendle on Monday, September 7th when Stage Two starts in Clitheroe and finishes in Colne.

News of Sir Brad’s participation comes on the same day top German sprinter Andre Greipel, winner of four Tour de France stages this year, will lead the Lotto Soudal team.

Dylan van Baarle of Team Cannondale Garmin has said he will defend his Tour of Britain crown as winner in 2014, while 2009 Tour of Britain champion Edvald Boasson Hagen of MTN Qhubeka team is also set to take the start line.

There could be even more for British cycling fans to get excited about this week too with an announcement expected in the next day or so that Team Etixx Quick-Step’s Mark Cavendish will also take part, adding to an already star-studded start list.
