Who's been leaning on a lamp post?
Passers-by in Burnley town centre chuckled at the sight of a lamp post lying flat to the pavement today.
The George Formby song “Leaning on a Lamp Post” came to mind after the Victorian-style reproduction gas lamp outside the Boot Inn, on the corner of St James’s Street and Parker Lane, was knocked down by a lorry earlier this morning.
A Burnley Council spokesman said: “It has been reported to the highways authority, Lancashire County Council, and they will be making it safe.
“The lamp was knocked over by a lorry delivering to a local shop, and we believe the vehicle has been identified.”
