Heavy rain fell overnight, and coupled with high winds this morning made driving conditions difficult.
North West Motorway Police tweeted: "Weather is wet and windy so if you have to venture out drive to the conditions."
Today is forecast to be cloudy at times and quite chilly with showers, some heavy and possibly wintry on higher levels.
Brisk westerly winds are expected.
This evening will continue cloudy with scattered showers, again possibly wintry on higher elevations.
Showers will become isolated overnight as clear breaks develop and Sunday will be another blustery day with showers or more prolonged rain developing.
