Vintage Jaguar destroyed in blaze

A driver was forced to flee his classic Jaguar car after it burst into flames near a Burnley pub.

The man pulled over after seeing smoke billowing from the engine of his Jaguar 420 by the Ram Inn, Cliviger, on Wednesday night.

The motorist evacuated the vintage vehicle as it caught fire as he was driving back along Burnley Road to the area from Todmorden at 2-25am.

Firefighters were called to deal with the blaze which started in the engine and may have been caused by a fault.

The fire caused substantial damage to the vehicle which had to be recovered from the scene.

Fire crews spent an hour and a half dealing with the incident.
