VIDEO: Village church welcomes new Rose Queen

The new Rose Queen at St Nicholas’s Church, Sabden, is Emily Rickard who opened the annual garden party after her crowning ceremony.

It was held indoors because of the rain, but the hall was packed with visitors who bought from the stalls and enjoyed afternoon tea. On Sunday the weather was fine when Emily and her retinue led the annual walking day from church, going round the village with stops for prayers and hymns.

Accompaniment was from the Earby Brass Band. The weekend’s events raised more than £1,500 for St Nicholas’s Church funds.
