Video: Police appeal for information in Burnley murder

Police are appealing for information after a murder investigation was launched when a body was found in Burnley on Monday morning.

The body of Stephen Whitehead (49) was found at 8am in the kitchen area of local business Pendle Skips on Heasandford Industrial Estate when workers began turning up for work.

It is believed Stephen, who was a casual employee at the firm, was using the premises to sleep rough after recently falling on hard times.

Police have confirmed that Stephen died from significant injuries after receiving numerous blows to the head with what is believed to be a blunt object.

Det. Supt. Paul Withers, who is leading the investigation, is keen to track the victims whereabouts from Saturday evening onwards, when it is believed Stephen visited town centre pubs The White Lion and The Princess Royal.

It is not known if Stephen died on Saturday night or at some point on Sunday.
