VIDEO: Burnley teacher takes to YouTube to sing about the Pennine Lancashire 10K

A PENNINE 10K participant is hopeful a unique online plea will help to raise funds for charity.

Lizzie Dixon (28) is taking part in the Burnley running event on June 2nd and has taken to YouTube to get more sponsors backing her efforts.

Through song, the English and Drama teacher at Unity College gives her reasons why she feels people should dig deep for Pendleside Hospice.

Lizzie has promised to run in fancy dress if she meets her target of £1,000.

She said: “It’s important, in this time of financial troubles, that we help charities when they need us most.

“Pendleside Hospice does a superb job and I admire what they do.

“This 10km run will be a challenge for me as I am not a runner but I will train hard for it.

“I thought by making the video, and possibly embarrassing myself, it would raise more money by encouraging people to put their hands in their pockets.”

The official route for the 10km course has officially been unveiled, and it is expected that more than £100,000 will be raised for local charities.
