VIDEO: Burnley siege continues into New Year’s Eve

A stand-off involving armed police at a house in Hebrew Road in the Duke Bar area of Burnley is still ongoing this morning, after police were intially called at 4-30pm yesterday.

Firearms officers were called in after reports a man had barricaded himself inside with a woman hostage.

last night a police spokesman said negotiations with the man are ongoing and stressed reports of a shooting or the man being armed with a gun, which have appeared on social networking sites, are false.

Surrounding roads have been closed off by police.

The incident is the second siege in Burnley in a week and follows a similar one in Lowerhouse last week.
