Vets make a splash in the capital

A pair of veterinary surgeons jumped in at the deep end when they swam the Serpentine in London to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.

Kathryn Willis and Sheryl Calway took on a one mile open swim in the Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park raising a staggering £1,345 for the Vetlife charity.The pair, who work at Burnley’s Oakmount Veterinary Centre, were sponsored by colleagues, friends and family.Kathryn said: “As a profession with an elevated suicide rate, the work that Vetlife provides is paramount, they are available all day every day to give free and confidential support to the veterinary community. This is tailored to an individual’s circumstances and includes assistance relating to financial hardship, stress, addiction and employment.”
