A 60-year-old man from Burnley been arrested on suspicion of robbing an elderly woman.

The terrifying incident happened at around 5-20pm on Saturday when the 88-year-old victim heard the doorbell ring at her home in Birtwistle Fold, Colne.

She went to answer the door, believing it to be her daughter, before a man pushed her back into the house causing her to fall to the floor. He pulled her to her feet and demanded to know where she kept her money. He made off with £300 in cash and ran towards the direction of the town centre.

The victim was taken to Burnley General Hospital where she was treated for a cut to her forearm and bruising.
