Special delivery: ferret posted through Nelson letterbox

These days, you can get almost anything delivered to your front door with the click of a mouse and with the coronavirus lockdown showing no signs of being lifted anytime soon, delivery drivers across the country will be extremely busy indeed. That being said, it's still a surprise when someone posts a ferret through your letterbox.

On Easter Monday earlier this week, Nelson Pet Shop took to Facebook to explain that someone had posted a European polecat - also known as the common ferret - through their door after finding the animal wandering around Market Square.

"We've had a strange situation here this morning regards a polecat being posted through the letterbox," the pet shop wrote on Facebook. "The pet is safe and sound. I have been and spoken to the men that did this and they have explained it was roaming Market Square and they presumed it had come from the pet shop so was [sic] attempting to keep it safe by putting it back.

"However, it doesn't belong to us so it seems this could be a case of a lost pet. Has anyone lost a polecat?" the post continued. "It is friendly, eating well by the look of my shop and overall doing well. Please get in touch if you think you know the owner."

If you have any information, please contact the pet shop via Facebook.
