With the focus of this year's World Book Day being 'share a million stories', the students at Reedley Primary School were treated to a very special performance from Sue, who also officially opened the school's new library.

"The library is something that we are very proud of and it has been over a year in the making," said the school's Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Gorrell. "We have had to rely on fund-raising events and book donations from the community of which we are incredibly grateful - we couldn't have done this without the people who supported us."

"School libraries are such an important part of education, they provide a safe haven for all students to develop a love of reading, to share stories and explore the world; we were so excited to develop ours for our children," explained Mrs Gorrell. "Mrs Butt (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Wilson (Teaching Assistant), and I have worked really hard to create an amazing reading space for our children.

"The children are really enthusiastic about the library," she continued. "For some of them, it is their first visit to the library and they have enjoyed using the scanning system for the books and learning about all the different texts available to them."

A thrilled Umair, nine, said: "We are so lucky that we have a library - it has all the books that you could want."
