Burnley MP is star guest at sell out pantomime
Burnley's new MP Mr Antony Higginbotham joined the audience for a sell out pantomime that received a standing ovation.
Burnley based Team Rise performed Santa We Have A Problem at Greenbrook Methodist Church over two nights.
The cast of 25 people, all with learning disabilities or autism, rehearsed every week for six months and their hard work paid off with a show that raised the roof.
Written and directed by Sandra Rowley the sory unfolded about how all the children had received the wrong presents, which was all down to the mischief caused by the Ice Cold Queen. However by pulling together all the problems were resolved and everyone celebrated at the Snow Ball Party.
The performances were professionally filmed by Jamie McGowan Media Ltd and the production was supported by the Calder Lodge of the freemasons who donated a generous £250 towards costumes and a further £300 to support the night.
Team Rise manager Sharon Lees said: "It was such a fabulous show, everyone did so well but they have worked really hard to make this happen
"We can’t wait for next year and already have a story in the pipeline. It will be bigger and better than ever."
Team Rise, which stands for Standing Together Everyone Achieves More Respecting Individual Skills and Experiences is situated in the heart of Burnley town centre and exists to give individuals the opportunity to develop, socialise and explore their ideas and goals through a wide variety of educational, social and practical activities.
This can be anything, from dancing lessons and quizzes, to cookery classes, days out and, of course, pantomimes.
