FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle blazes at two Burnley homes last night.

The first fire broke out at a house in Holly Street, near Turf Moor at around 6-50 p.m.

When fire crews arrived the front room was well ablaze, but no-one was in the house at the time. They got the flames under control but the room was left severely damaged.

Investigations are under way to find out the cause of the fire.

Later on at 8-45 p.m. a passer-by called 999 after seeing flames coming from an upstairs room in an empty Cambridge Street property.

The first floor front bedroom was well ablaze and was left severely damaged by the fire.

Firefighters were on the scene for more than an hour putting out the fire which they believe was started deliberately.
