His family said Mr Sarchet, who worked as a retail manager, was their “rock” and completely devoted to them.

His brother, Mario, said: “He was a devoted family man, he lived for his children and wife. He was always loving, caring and considerate.”

Mr Sarchet leaves his wife of 14 years Jill, son Chris (17), and daughters Levi (17) and Jessica (13).

One of four children, he was born in Devon, and was brought up in Nelson before the family moved to Spain, returning to Reedley when Mr Sarchet was 14. He went to Edge End High School, Nelson, and also later lived in Nelson.

Mario said his brother was practically-minded and was talented at DIY and making things and enjoyed walking his dog Charlie in the countryside around Worsthorne.

“He was very capable, he loved making things and had done a lot of work on his previous house.”

Mr Sarchet had previously been involved in the family business Peter’s Jewellers but not for more than 10 years,

Mario added: “Nothing was ever too much trouble for him, he always put others first. He was one of life’s gentlemen.

“He was a rock to his family and will be greatly missed.”
