Trawden beer festival raises £15,000 for charities

The Rotary Club of Colne Noyna organised the Trawden Beer and Music Festival, in April.

The event was hugely successful raising an incredible amount for the beneficiary charities Pendleside Hospice, Derian House, Rosemere, Petal Childhood Cancer Research, Trawden Forest Primary School, Trawden Forest Community Centre and Trawden Bowling Club.

Beating last year’s total of £10K, organisers and festival-goers really pulled out all the stops to make this one to remember.

Peter Catlow, Rotarian and Director at Businesswise Solutions, said: “This year’s festival was fantastic, and we’re absolutely thrilled with the amount of money raised for these great charities. A lot of hard work and commitment goes into organising the event, so it’s always nice to see everyone enjoying themselves while raising vital funds too.”

Twenty local bands performed across the weekend, including Tom Scothern and Lily and Ross, plus there was a marquee at the Trawden Forest Community Centre, a food court at the Trawden Arms and over 80 different ales on offer, as well as prosecco, milk shake and cider bars.

Peter added: “We’re looking to make the weekend an annual event, and the Community Centre group is currently in talks with the library to use this space too; this would be a great addition, making 2017 better than ever before!”
