Residents have expressed their concerns after a group of travellers moved onto an area behind the Stoops and Hargher Clough Young People’s Centre.
The area, on the corner of Venice Street and Hargher Street, has five caravans on it — and residents are worried more could be on the way.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “It’s certainly a concern.”
The area had been secured by a padlocked metal gate.
A spokeman for Burnley Council said they are moving as fast as possible to try to clear the area.
“The council is taking legal action to remove the travellers from the site as quickly as possible and council officers have been to talk to the group.
“We did secure the site but unfortunately locks can be cut and people can force their way on if they are determined.
“It is not an authorised travellers’ site and people should not be on there illegally.
“We understand local residents are concerned about the situation and will work as quickly as the law allows to clear the site.”
