The Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety funded 350 teddy bears to be given to children who have been involved in a crash – either as a passenger or pedestrian.

Last year, 53 children were seriously injured on East Lancashire’s roads.

PC Simon Grounds said: “It is particularly distressing when we see young children involved in road collisions.

“We find that children are often extremely scared and overwhelmed and don’t always understand what is happening. A collision can be a traumatic and life changing experience for anyone – let alone children. These teddy bears can help both comfort and calm children.”
