Second M65 crash leads to further lane closure in Burnley

Another lane has been closed on the M65 in Burnley after a second crash this morning (Thursday, January 21).

Motorists are being warned of a lane closure on the westbound M65 between junctions 12 (Brierfield) and 11 (Burnley Centre).

Lane one has been shut, but the second lane remains open. There is slow traffic due to congestion.

Recovery work is ongoing and the lane is expected to reopen by 11.40am.

It follows an separate crash earlier this morning on a nearby stretch of carriageway between junctions 10 (Burnley / Padiham) and 9 (Hapton / Burnley West) at around 9.45am.

This first incident has been cleared after the stricken vehicle was recovered at around 10.40am, just minutes before the latest crash.

It is not clear whether anyone has been injured in the two crashes, but Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for details.
