M6 junction 32 to junction 38

The Highways Agency is working overnight in the verges along the northbound M6 between Monday, November 2 and Wednesday, November 18 . Short sections of lane one will be closed overnight while we do this routine maintenance. The closures are not expected to cause any delays to drivers’ journeys.

Overnight work to renew road markings is taking place between the two junctions until Wednesday, November 11. Some overnight lane or slip road closures and will be required.

M6 junction 36

A £7m maintenance project along the A590 between Brettargh Holt junction and the M6 at junction 36 includes improvements at the motorway roundabout itself (including resurfacing and installing new bridge joints). The four-month project is expected to be completed in December and involves traffic management – including closures – at the roundabout at times. Forthcoming closures:

The south bridge at the motorway roundabout is currently closed around the clock with no access from the southbound M6 or A65 and signed diversions in place. The bridge is due to re-open by Monday, October 26.

The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight this weekend – 10pm to 6am tonight, 8pm to 6am tomorrow night and 8pm to 3am on Sunday to help remove the traffic management along the A590.

Several months of round-the-clock work as part of the £1.5m M6 Species Rich Grassland project to improve biodiversity along the motorway’s verges are now underway - with occasional lane one closures along short stretches of the carriageway. Some slip road closures will also be required. This scheme particularly increases the variety of wildflowers, improving conditions to support bees and other pollinators.

M55 junctions 1 to 3

Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are now in place along a short stretch of the motorway where a new junction (junction 2) is being constructed as part of Lancashire County Council’s Preston Western Distributor road project.

A585 Windy Harbour to Skippool improvement

Work to deliver a £150m new bypass and junction improvements is now underway. Information on traffic management likely to affect road users’ journeys will be included in this bulletin. There will be five nights of overnight (7pm to 4am) drainage surveys between Monday and Friday (October 26 to 30) between Skippool Garage and Shard (temporary traffic lights); at Shard junction (road narrows) and between Little Singleton and Shard (temporary traffic lights). There will also be daytime working at Garstang Road for heavy plant movement over the same period. Additionally, stop-go boards will be in place during the day at Garstang New Road on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 27 and 28). This is also for heavy plant movement.
