A Nelson family say they have been overwhelmed with the number of messages of condolence they have received after the tragic death of their son in a quad biking accident in Australia on Tuesday morning.
Scott Thompson (27) died after the bike he was riding was hit by a truck near the town of Bungador, Victoria.
The former soldier had been travelling with his girlfriend, Sami Allott, and had been in Australia for four months.
His parents, Lynne and Stephen, of Sansbujry Crescent, said: “We cannot believe how many people have sent us messages. We knew he was a popular lad, but did not realise he was this popular.”
A full report will appear in Friday’s Leader Times.
