Injured person found on road causes section of A56 near Haslingden to close

A section of the A56 Haslingden Bypass was closed after an injured person was found in the carriageway.

Police closed off a section of road in Rossendale after a person was found injured in the carriageway today (June 18).

Emergency services were called to the A56 Haslingden Bypass, close to Rising Bridge and Haslingden, shortly after 5.30pm.

Officers have now confirmed the road fully reopened shortly before 6.30pm.

It is not yet known how the person came to be in the road or what injuries they may have sustained.

In a previous statement, a spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "A section of the A56 Haslingden Bypass close to Rising Bridge has been closed after someone was found injured on the road.

"We are currently at the scene and will update you when we can.

"Please avoid the area if you are able."
