A section of a Burnley road will remain closed for an indefinite amount of time following a burst water pipe.
Hundreds of homes across Burnley and Padiham were without water on Tuesday morning following the incident in Middlesex Avenue, Burnley.
The burst pipe, which caused "much consequential damage to the road" was reported to United Utilities at 3-45am with water being returned to properties throughout the morning.
Repair work took place all day Tuesday and a permanent road closure was put in place today while the excavation was backfilled.
A spokesman for the water company said: "This main burst during the early hours of the morning and caused much consequential damage to the road before engineers carried out safe isolation.
"As a result, there is much work to do before the road closure is lifted and the site is returned to its pre-burst condition."
