A trained beauty therapist, Nicola loved life and was driven by her job, working up until November last year until she no longer could.

Nicola was born in Burnley in 1984 and grew up living in Weatherhill Crescent in Brierfield.

After finishing her education at Mansfield High School, Nicola began working as a beauty therapist at Crow Wood in Burnley after training at Accrington and Rossendale and Nelson and Colne Colleges.

At around the same time, she met her future husband Richard Hutchinson on a night out in Burnley in October 2003 and it was a case of love at first sight.

Nicola was well regarded at Crow Wood, and was taken on a staff trip to Mallorca in 2006, before she decided to move on to work at Hicks gym in Clitheroe.

After 18 months there, Nicola’s reputation with clients began to grow so much so that people would travel to Elysium in Barnoldswick where she switched jobs to in 2007.

Nicola’s standing in the beauty industry in and around Pendle continued its upward curve and by August 2010, she launched her own mobile company Beautify You which proved to be an extremely successful venture.

She married Richard at Eaves Hall in February 2012 and the couple took off to Cape Verde for a honeymoon, later heading off on a Mediterranean cruise in September of the same year. The couple’s daughter Freya was born in July, 2013.

Thornton-in-Craven’s St Mary’s Church was packed out for her funeral which took place last Wednesday and paying tribute to Nicola this week, Richard said: “She was very much a family, home girl and was very level headed.

“She was always jolly. Nothing worried Nicola. She kept the cancer quiet because she didn’t want any fuss. Freya meant everything to her. She managed to do as much as she could with Freya in the time she had with her.

“Nicola loved our little house and never wanted to move. She used to love being so close to the countryside.

“All the way through fighting cancer, Nicola was determined and extremely brave. We will miss her enormously.”

Outside of work, Nicola and Richard relished the time they spent together, eating out often as well as taking holidays abroad whenever possible such as the Canary Islands, Cyprus and the Dominican Republic.
