Police were called at around 9.40pm on September 29th following reports of an accident in Slade Lane, close to the junction with Adamson Street.

A Seat Leon car travelling from the direction of Church Street had left the carriageway, colliding with a tree. The driver of the vehicle, Corey Hudson (24) suffered a significant head injury and later died on September 30th.

A 27-year-old man suffered neck, head, and shoulder injuries while a second passenger, aged 30, suffered injuries to his pelvis and ribs. All the men were treated at Royal Preston Hospital.

The road was closed for more than four hours while accident investigators attended the scene. Despite an initial appeal for information last month, police still want to trace witnesses to the collision.

Temp Sgt Lee Harris, of Lancashire Police's Roads Policing Unit, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts continue to remain with Mr Hudson's family and friends.

“While we launched an initial appeal for information following the collision, we still want to find witnesses to establish exactly what happened," he added. “A young man has died and it is important we gather the facts to conduct a full investigation.

"If you saw the vehicle before the collision, or witnessed the incident, please contact us."
