One dead and another in hospital after Burnley collision

A man has died after being involved in a road traffic collision in Cliviger late last night, with police appealing for witnesses.

Authorities who attended the incident said that a 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision, while firefighters were forced to use cutting equipment and lighting to release one the other driver - a 48-year-old man - who had been trapped in the other vehicle. He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital.

Two fire engines from Rawtenstall and Bacup, as well as the Urban Search and Rescue Team from Chorley, were called to the scene at 22:17 after two vehicles - a Volkswagen Golf and a Vauxhall Vectra - collided on Crown Point Road in Cliviger.
