Janet Boast, from Nelson florists Going Dutch, led a team of fellow Interflora florists on invitation from award-winning British designer, Julien Macdonald OBE, to dress his autumn/winter 2016 catwalk show at London Fashion Week.

The high fashion event was held at London’s One Mayfair venue, a Grade II listed church, where the designer, who has previously worked for big name fashion houses Chanel and Givenchy, tasked the talented quartet with setting the scene of an enchanted forest.

With just a day to dress the venue, Janet and the team spent over 12 hours the day before the catwalk show handcrafting the arrangements, using a complementary colour palate of rich jewel tones; bright purple, dark blue and deep burgundy.

Roses, hydrangeas, orchids and lilies were used to bring the brief to life, alongside willow, magnolia branches and trailing foliage woven with flowers to create intricate designs wrapping around the pillars.

Janet said: “It was fantastic to be given such freedom and creative license for the event.

“We were able to bring Julien’s vision to life and create something really extraordinary, with a sense of theatre.

“The end result was magical. To know that our designs fell under the spotlight of the world’s fashion elite and media was a huge achievement and an opportunity I’d jump at the chance to deliver again.”

Janet is one of a number of elite Interflora florists who now offer the newly launched Julien Macdonald Collection for Interflora – a range inspired by his travel experiences and comprised of 15 bouquets, with additional seasonal designs added throughout the year.

Julien said: “Interflora created the most fabulous designs for my fashion show. I briefed them to create a dramatic enchanted forest. Interflora achieved that with their brilliant design expertise. It was a perfect collaboration.”
