Toddler murder inquiry launched

A MURDER investigation has been launched in Barnoldswick after a toddler was found dead.

Police were called to the two-year-old boy’s home on St Mary’s Avenue by the ambulance service at 9-30 a.m. on Sunday.

The toddler’s parents were later arrested on suspicion of murder and child cruelty.

A warrant was granted yesterday to allow police extra time to question the two 24-year-olds.

The death is still being treated as unexplained. A post mortem examination has been performed and officers are awaiting the results.
