Three people taken to hospital following Laneshaw Bridge collision

Three people – including two elderly women – were taken to Airedale General Hospital after a car was in collision with a bus shelter in Keighley Road, Colne, on Monday morning.

The collision occurred after a car took evasive action to avoid two other vehicles which had been involved in an accident outside the Hartley Homes.

The women were waiting for a bus on the opposite side of the road and were fortunately stood outside the shelter when the car was in collision with it.

It was originally thought that one of the women had suffered a broken hip, but tests at the hospital showed this not to be the case.

The other woman was treated for cuts and bruises, while the driver of one of the two cars involved in the original collision was treated for a head injury.

All three were released from hospital after treatment.

The accident, which occurred at 10-50am, caused serious traffic problems in the Colne and Laneshaw Bridge area as Keighley Road was closed at its junction with Alma Road for around four hours while investigation work was carried out.
