Three in hospital after taking drugs at music festival

Three music festival goers were rushed to hospital in a critical condition last night (Saturday) after suffering an adverse reaction to taking drugs, it is believed

Today, police warned others attending the popular Beat Herder Festival in the Ribble Valley to be on their guard.

The young men were taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with police stating they were suffering what is thought to have been an adverse reaction after taking some sort of drug”.

“At this stage it is not clear what the substance is that the three have taken and if they are at all linked,” the statement adds.

Police reported that the three were initially described as being in a critical condition but have recovered well overnight and have been discharged with the third likely to be released later today.

“Users of any drug, illegal or so-called legal highs (new psychoactive substance), can never be really sure of the contents of anything they take and the potential health issues are very real and potentially fatal,” said a police spokesman. “Those possessing or supplying illegal drugs will also find themselves in serious trouble with the police.

“If you have taken any sort of drugs or if you know someone who has become unwell after taking drugs and require urgent medical care call 999 and ask for the ambulance service.

“If you have information about the supply of drugs call us on 101 or pass information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. There will also be local officers at the festival so anyone with concerns can approach them to ask for assistance.”
