Three Burnley performers to take part in ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

Five-year-old street dancer Brendon Austin, vocalist Rebecca Swindells (14) and professional wedding singer Wayne Farrow (37) will all star in the flagship ITV talent show.

The hopefuls aim to get their big break at the auditions in Manchester this month which will be broadcast to millions of viewers across the country.

Proud mum Sarah (24) said Brendon is over the moon to get a chance to dance on the biggest stage in Britain – and the Cherryfold Primary School pupil has not stopped practising.

She said: “I sent off the application form and received a letter this week asking Brendon to go for an audition in Manchester and he was so excited when I told him.

“Brendon has been dancing since he could walk, he absolutely loves it and likes doing street dance but he will try any style.

“Brendon is very confident and he doesn’t mind dancing in front of an audience, he won’t be put off by that.’’

Young Unity College pupil Rebecca wowed local show “Burnley’s Got Talent” with a breathtaking performance of Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love”.

But now the little girl with the big voice hopes to emulate her music idol for the judges on “Britain’s Got Talent.”

Rebecca, who has never had a singing lesson, said: “When I found out I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to tell my mum. I have never been on TV before.

“I am nervous but excited at the same time. There will be millions of people watching. But all my friends and family are supporting me. I am just going to go and do my best.”

Rising star Rebecca is playing the lead role in “Back to the 80s” with Brunshaw Action Group next week. But barely 24 hours after the curtain falls on the Burnley musical she will take centre stage on “Britain’s Got Talent.”

Father-of-two Wayne is also hoping to make a big splash in the competition.

The full-time singer, who once turned down an audition on X-Factor, hopes appearing on the show will see his career skyrocket.

Wayne, who sings classic songs from Frank Sinatra to rock hits from The Rolling Stones, said: “I should have done this years ago.

“For years I have been singing in pubs and clubs and then recently I made a big step up – singing at the Hong Kong Football Club New Year’s Eve party which is a huge thing over there.

“But Britain’s Got Talent could put me in the spotlight. I hope I can go all the way with this. I am not going to build my hopes up but I am going to go for it.

“There have been so many well-wishers sending me messages on Facebook. Maybe we can put Burnley on the map.”
