Mark Butterworth helped himself to the hairdressing equipment, as well as clothes, from Devinia Reader’s vehicle, which was on the car park below the Keirby Hotel in the town, on or between June 6th and June 7th, Burnley magistrates were told.

Butterworth (37), a convicted burglar and car thief, has had heroin problems and has served time. He has such a long record that sentencing him three years ago for a house raid, a judge said it would take her all day to read it.

The defendant, of Edgeworth Grove, Burnley, admitted theft from a motor vehicle after the latest offence.

The court was told the victim had to change her car after the offence as she didn’t want to put her child in the vehicle targeted by the defendant.

Butterworth was given a four-week curfew, between 9pm and 7am by the Bench, who ordered him to pay £250 compensation.
