Teenager is ‘seriously injured’ after wall collision

Around 11-15pm, a silver Rover 214 SE was being driven along Clitheroe Road when the driver lost control and the car collided with the wall of some newly built houses.

The driver, believed to be a 16-year-old boy from Brierfield, suffered a head injury and a serious injury to his arm. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The front seat passenger, believed to be a 17-year-old boy also from Brierfield, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with a minor head injury.

A rear seat passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Brierfield was uninjured. He has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and breach of an anti-social behaviour order and is currently in police custody.

Sergeant Tracey Ward said: “An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is now under way. We are speaking with people who live in the area, but I am keen to speak with anybody who may have seen this car being driven in the area prior to the collision and earlier in the day.”
