A teenager was pulled out of a notorious stretch of water in Colne today (Saturday) and airlifted to hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing the teenager pulled out of Colne Water, a stretch of river between Colne and Trawden, which Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson recently highlighted as dangerous in a House of Commons debate.

The spot, just below Colne Cemetery, off Keighley Road, is popular with young people who swim in the river on hot days.

Nelson Fire Service confirmed they did not attend the incident, which happened around 2-30pm, but the air ambulance was seen in the area.

The North West Air Ambulance could not confirm any details at this time when contacted by the Colne Times.
